I recently received some film scans from the photo lab – I sent two rolls of Kentmere 400 medium format, both shot via my Holga, along with a couple other rolls which will be shared soon.
What I learned from these two rolls is this: tape the seams in the Holga well! There was a major light leak on the right hand side that rendered many of my photos even more, well, “experimental” than I would have liked.
As you will see, I shot both rolls within walking distance of my house. Sickness and business have kept me from leaving much. The challenge I posed for myself was to try to capture moments of wilderness and serenity in the middle of a boring and busy subdivision. Near my house, there is a big old drainage ditch that directs water away from the houses, like a miniature swamp ecosystem. Many photos capture the plants and views separate from all the human dwellings.
In general, I am happy with the shots I got, but I am eager to refine my Holga shots further and eventually try color film in more inspiring settings.
Enjoy!
